In Korea it’s not just the skincare products that provide #glasskingoals, they take care of their skin from all angles. Translation: application is everything, and traditional K-Beauty application techniques help increase product absorption and prevent tugging and pulling the skin, which could otherwise accelerate skin aging. For the ultimate tips, we got in touch with K-Beauty queens, the Founders and SHE-E-Os of one of our fave K-Beauty brands, Glow Recipe, Christine Chang and Sarah Lee, for all their application hacks. Here are their top five skincare tips:

1. Cleanse For 1 Minute

“When cleansing your skin, gently massage your cleanser for one full minute in an upwards motion. When washing away residue, splash your skin with water instead of rubbing. We love the Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser, $34, for this step because it gently exfoliates with AHAs while hydrating with hyaluronic acid so the skin doesn’t feel tight afterward,” explains Sarah.

2. Ditch The Towel!

Christine insists that “After you’re finished cleansing, ditch the towel when drying your skin! Towels can cause unnecessary friction and rubbing on the skin, whereas we like to take the gentle approach. Simply pat in the remaining moisture into the skin and leave your face slightly damp to better absorb the rest of your routine.”

3. Switch in Facial Mists

If you’re a regular on HudaBeauty.com, you’ll have heard of the 7-skin method. If not, Christine gave us the lowdown: “The 7-skin method is the act of patting a hydrating toner into the skin seven times consecutively to effectively plump and deeply hydrate the skin. However, instead spritz and pat the Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist, $28, in place of a toner, as it immerses skin with hydration due to the juicy watermelon extract and hyaluronic acid in the formula.”

4. Pat, Don’t rub

“Pat in all your skincare instead of rubbing! Focus on being gentle with your skin. Patting skin increases blood circulation and also allows the product to absorb more deeply. When we use a serum (or multiple!), like the Pineapple-C Bright Serum, $49, we like to press gently into the skin and then pat in the remaining product to fully maximize its brightening and hydrating properties,” says Christine.

5. Create A Skincare Cocktail

Sarah recommends to “Double up on serums, as it allows you to address multiple skin concerns. It’s essentially layering our serums or cocktailing your serums, based on your skin’s unique needs. We find this really exciting because it addresses the fact that most people have a variety of skin concerns. To double up, apply a few drops of each serum into the palm of your hand and pat into the skin. We love to double serum with our Pineapple-C Bright Serum and Pink Juice Moisturizer (which can double as a serum!) for the perfect cocktail of smoothing and soothing.”
