Huda Beauty X LaQuan Smith: The NYFW Looks You Need To See
OMG guys, I can hardly believe it! This week we collaborated with literally the coolest, most stunning designer, AKA LaQuan Smith, for his show at New York Fashion Week.
I wish I were able to attend the show, but just seeing all the footage and watching the models strut down the runway in a Huda Beauty beat was such a pinch-me moment. The timing also felt really special as this week is the Huda Beauty 10-year anniversary. I just kept on thinking ten years ago, I was packing lashes in my house, and now our product range is being used at NYFW for one of the coolest designers of the moment. Of course, I had to share all of the deets with you guys, from the inspo to the final look and all of the BTS in between.
The Inspiration

Working with the LaQuan Smith team and the incredibly talented makeup artist Raisa Flowers, has been a dream. I’ve always loved LaQuan’s designs and the fierce AF energy that radiates through every single garment, and whenever I watch the runway shows, it feels so bold, sexy, and powerful. He just knows how to make a woman feel beautiful, and that’s exactly what we try to do at Huda Beauty.

As for Raisa, I’ve been following her work for years. She’s such a visionary, and she loves a full glam moment as much as we do, so I knew it was going to be the ultimate team.

It was amazing to work with LaQuan’s team on creating the look. The vibe of the collection is sexy and sophisticated with a nostalgic touch. He was inspired heavily by the ultra-glam looks in the 80s TV show Dynasty, which I also LOVED. The collection featured a lot of strong but sexy evening suits with sharp, clean lines, so naturally, we worked on a mood board together filled with snatched liner looks and sculpted skin. My mood board was full of old pictures of Linda Evans and Joan Collins and focused on their strong eye looks and pops of color. We took the ’80s glam inspiration but with a modern, fierce twist.

LaQuan told us his goal for the collection was to redefine sexy clothes for 2023. To accompany this mood, he envisioned a sharp graphic cat eye, which also worked perfectly for our NEW release, the Huda Beauty Creamy Kohl Longwear Eye Pencil, $19. Literally, at every point of the creative process, we aligned, and the brand collaboration just felt so authentic – from the moment we started talking, the creative process flowed. We went back and forth with some looks and finally landed on the LaQuan Smith X Huda Beauty beat. It’s giving bad bitch o’clock, and I couldn’t be more obsessed.

Ultimately, we wanted the graphic liner to be the moment, so we decided on a matte black wing with negative space detailing to accentuate and snatch the eye. Each liner style was tailored to each model to complement the outfit and overall look. For some models, we focused on tightlining to add depth and dimension, and with others, we kept the look clean and crisp. The eyelid was also contoured depending on the model’s undertones.

The brows also varied from model to model, but the vibe was either bushy or bleached. For the lip, we played with a glossy nude to make the lips look really plump and sensual. As for the complexion, it was ALL about a sculpted glow-up.
The Products Used to Get the LaQuan X Huda Beauty Look

The entire look was created using Huda Beauty products, so here’s a little breakdown of the exact product deets:
Eyes: To contour the lid, Raisa used a range of matte shades from the Empowered Eyeshadow Palette, $67, as well as the Naughty Nude Eyeshadow Palette, $67. Then, for the graphic liner, our trusty Life Liner Quick ‘N Easy Life Liner, $19, and the NEW Huda Beauty Creamy Kohl Longwear Eye Pencil, $19, were used to add depth and dimension. The eye look was finished with layers and layers of LEGIT Lashes Dual Ended Mascara, $29.
Complexion: For the complexion, Raisa used a combination of the #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation, $42, and the #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick, $39. To brighten and snatch, Raisa used our ultimate power couple: the #FauxFilter Lumionus Matte Concealer, $29, and the Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Setting Powder, $34, to lock the look in place and achieve that coveted airbrushed finish.
Lip: To get a seriously sexy lip, we layered our Silk Balm Hydrating Lip Balm, $21, over the Power Bullet Cream Glow Lipstick, $25.

The Autumn Winter 2023 collection was revealed at the Rainbow Room in New York City. Guests arrived to be treated to caviar and espresso martinis. The room was giving bad-bish energy, with ICONS in attendance like Lil Nas X, Camila Coelho, Coco Rocha, Julia Fox, and Teyana Taylor in attendance.
The whole experience, from start to finish, has been a DREAM. I hope you like the look. Honestly, I’m low-key obsessed!
