Mona insists she loves adding sea moss gel into her morning smoothie as it has a very mild taste. She says, “I love blending a ripe mango, ginger, hemp seeds, flax meal, sea moss, almond milk, and a bit of coconut water together for a yummy digestive skin-boosting recipe.”
If you can order dried sea moss, Mona suggests making it into a gel. In a gel format, it’s easier to add to water, teas, and even use as a skincare gel to give your skin a boost of hydration and surge of antioxidants. Here’s how:
Step 1: Simply rinse sea moss thoroughly and cover with purified water. Let it sit overnight, covered on your countertop. The next morning you’ll see it has softened and expanded.
Step 2: Add the sea moss with the water it soaked in (to keep the mineral-rich water), into a blender and blend at high speed until it forms a gel consistency. Mona says, “I start with about one cup of water and add more if needed to get the desired consistency.”
Step 3: Transfer the sea moss into a glass mason jar and store it in the fridge for use when needed. Mona likes to start her day with one teaspoon of the gel in a cup of hot water to sip on as a morning tonic.
