1. Dominatrix Energy

It appears that celebs and designers are embracing savage sex appeal, leading us to question is 2023 going to be our dominatrix era? We vote yes. While the vibe is fashion-led (think: lace, corsets, bondage), the beauty look is equally as important, as per. We’re talking snatched contour, smokey, siren eyes, and a seductive lip.

And what’s not to love about radiating dom energy, AKA taking charge of every aspect of your life including your beauty look? Just think about how powerful you feel slaying a red lip, add a smoldering eye to the mix and you’ll feel unstoppable.

2. 1920s Gilded Glamour

1920s glamour is resurfacing on the red carpet, runway, and on the pages of your fave magazines. And we’re so into it. In Vogue alone, they shot a dazzling array of 31 stars under the shimmering scope of the roaring twenties, while at the Dior couture show, the models strutted down the runway with beauty looks inspired by 1920s icon Josephine Baker.

If you’re questioning what 1920s makeup actually looks like, DW, we’ll paint the picture: the brow is slender, the cheeks are rosy, the eyes are smokey, and the lip is bold. Of course, you don’t have to wear all of these elements at once; play and experiment with key features. Oh, and they loved an accessory in the ’20s, whether it was a glitter cap or dazzling headpiece.

3. The Wet-Look Smokey Eye

If you’re a regular at the Huda Beauty blog, you’ll know glam grunge is a key trend for 2023, and that message was only reiterated at couture week. Major designers, including Dior, Mugler, and Georges Hobeika, showcased grungy yet polished smokey eye lewks.

One clear edition was the touch of shimmer that made the classic look feel fresh, modern, and almost wet. It feels like a grungier take on the shower makeup trend, which we can’t get enough of RN.

4. The Slicked Back & Sexy Updo

At Paris Couture Week, there was one simple hairstyle that we saw EVERYWHERE, and that’s the slicked-back updo. Designers put their own spin on the style, like adding texture to a bouffant shape. However, it was always sleek and *relatively* minimal.

It kinda made us think, was it inspired by the TikTok #HairMaskBun? However, unlike the Bella Hadid snatched signature, this look doesn’t have a sharp middle parting; instead, the hair is pulled directly back, making it even easier to achieve at home.

5. Snow Angel Eyeshadow

Snow angel eyeshadow is set to be a big trend this year, having already garnered attention on TikTok with trends like #ColdGirlMakeup and #AngelMakeup. However, it was most recently confirmed on the Fendi and Giambattista Valli couture runway. Mic drop, we know!

The centerpiece of the look is, of course, a white eyeshadow. It’s giving ethereal, ice queen energy, and we’re obsessed. While Fendi played with a dewy finish, Giambattista kept it matte, so do whatever works for you. We also love how Dua Lipa contoured the lid slightly with a grey-toned shadow for definition.
