Drugstore Product Of The Week: How To Fake The Best Tan In Winter For Under $10

via Giphy

It’s winter, our body hasn’t seen sunshine in what feels like 50 years, and we’ve been neglecting the moisturizer. Result? We’re just a little bit crusty, and there’s absolutely no sign of that golden glow we spent all summer perfecting… Unless that is, you’re onto the same genius product we are, aka the Garnier Summer Body Moisturizing Lotion, $7. Yes, we realize it’s not summer, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to look a little bit bronzed should we be revealing a shoulder or ankle during the holidays.

So, why do we love this tanning lotion the most? To start with it’s not an annoying self-tanner that you need to prep for the day before with a scrub. No. It’s a moisturizer with a hint of self-tan in it (so it also hydrates your parched winter skin), that reveals a gorgeous golden glow that looks like you popped to the Maldives for the weekend. It comes in a ‘light’ and a ‘deep’ version, so you can get a tan that looks natural for you. We recommend the ‘light’ for very fair skin, and the ‘deep’ can be used for light to medium skin tones – we like to mix a little of the deep moisturizer with our regular moisturizer for a super-natural, never-streaky tan.

We honestly love everything about this formula – and trust us, we’ve tried a lot of gradual tanning moisturizers before – and this always comes out on top. Not only does it disappear into the skin without leaving a sticky feeling, but it also smells good, and you can apply this at night and wake up with a glow by morning. And, we’ve been using this for years, and we have never experienced a streaky tan! We like to buy the big bottle (400ml), and it lasts us months and months! It’s honestly our answer to tanning in a hurry, and it’s not a pain in the ass to use – everyone should have a bottle of this on their bathroom shelf!
