Smooth Bikini Line 101: Must-Have Products & Essential Tips
Whether you’re vibing the ‘bush is back’ movement or you’re more of a ‘skin-is-in’ kinda gal, if you want your bikini line to be as soft, smooth and bump-free as possible, then you know it takes some work.
If you’re a fan of the less is more style, there are tons of products to help you on your quest to the smoothest bikini line ever. From pads to prevent ingrown hairs to creams that’ll soften your skin, here are the products we’re loving RN and the tips you need to know.
If you’re shaving or waxing anywhere, these pads are a must-have! The formula packs a serious punch – infused with AHAs and BHAs, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid, they’ll cleanse and exfoliate the pore to remove any sebum or dead skin build-up, which allows the new hair to grow without irritation. They’re also enriched with oat extract to soothe, witch hazel to reduce oil production, and lavender oil to calm inflammation. Plus, they’re void of any nasties and fragrance-free to minimize irritation. We love them as they’re SO easy to use, especially when you’re on the go – we like to stash them in our gym bag. But remember, these are just for the bikini line, don’t use them on your vulva.
2. DeoDoc Intimate Calming Oil, $30
A calming oil is always a good idea; whether you have a full bush or barely-there-hair. And this intimate oil is designed to protect the delicate skin at all times – during your period, an intense workout, or for date night. Developed by a gynecologist, the pH-balancing formula is infused with natural superheroes like chamomile, shea butter, and sunflower oil. It’s super hydrating yet fast-absorbing, and it doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy.
One of the most important tools for a bump-free bikini line is a great razor (go figure), and this ultra-luxe razor is made with sensitive skin in mind. With just one blade, it provides a close shave without pulling the hair or causing friction, which could lead to razor burn. It’s also designed to apply the optimum amount of pressure to prevent pesky ingrown hairs and chafing. While it’s definitely a splurge, investing in your bikini line and vulva-health is always worth it! Plus, it includes a pack of 10 razor heads, so technically it works out at $7.50 per razor.
Top tip: When shaving your bikini line, change your razor every three to five uses to avoid a blunt blade, which will decrease the likelihood of razor bumps. Keep the used blades for your legs.
4. The Perfect V Gentle Exfoliator, $34
If you’re constantly reaching for your razor, then you should consider getting The Perfect V Gentle Exfoliator. The formula features skin-healing ingredients like shea cocoa butter, jojoba oil, and vitamin E to replenish the skin, as well as exfoliating AHAs and salicylic acid to slough away dead skin that blocks the pore and results in ingrowns. We use it once or twice a week in between waxes to keep our bikini line soft and smooth.
Top tip: Before you shave the bikini line, take a long, warm shower or bath to help open up your pores. Follow with a gentle exfoliator to buff away dead skin, then soften the area with a dry oil, like the Fur Oil. This will prep your skin for shaving and reduce the risk of irritation.

Enriched with soy, aloe, and vitamin E, this gentle gel will allow for a smooth and close shave, while the aloe vera content hydrates and soothes the skin.
Top tip: We’ve heard that many dancers favor conditioner instead of shaving gel, thanks to its hydrating, hair-softening properties. We can vouch for this hack – it totally works.

Not long ago, vagina-steaming and vulva masks became a thing, although almost any gynecologist will implore you not to try that out. So, while we’re not sure how we feel about sheet masks for our vulva, we definitely are excited about the Oui The People Bikini Line Sheet Mask! The difference is that this mask is designed to soothe post-shave irritation, and goes nowhere near the vulva. The bio-cellulose material is packed with a serum with a small molecular structure that’s able to penetrate and soothe the deeper levels of the skin. Enriched with niacinamide, honey extract, and rose extract, it will moisturize, soothe and replenish sensitive skin while also helping to brighten post-inflammatory pigmentation from previous cuts or bumps.

Razor bumps and ingrown hairs are super common so don’t stress if you see one (or two) crop up around your bikini line. With that said, if you do want to get rid of them, this cream is really effective. The cream was formulated specifically for ingrown hairs; it boasts salicylic acid to exfoliate and decongest your pores so that the hair doesn’t get trapped. It also contains arnica and allantoin to soothe and reduce any inflammation or existing bumps in the skin. Apply it post-wax or post-shave onto clean skin. As this product wasn’t created specifically for this area, make sure you don’t get it on any sensitive areas.
