As much as we love drooling over runway beauty looks, they’re not often what we’d describe as ‘wearable’. We’re referring to the likes of faces drenched in glitter and butterfly lash extensions. Beautiful? Yes. Practical? No.

However, on the AW 2021/2022 runways we spotted multiple beauty trends that we a) want to try b) are easy enough to recreate, and c) may even make our daily routine easier. From chic headwraps that’ll help hide your lockdown roots to the bright thick liner seen at Versace. Here are the runway trends you’ll actually want to try.

1. Chic Head Pieces

Head scarfs and chic headbands have been trending on social media for the past year, however, Paris fashion week confirmed the trend is here to stay. TBH, we couldn’t be happier – we’re willing to try anything that’ll conceal our DIY root touch-ups.

Expect to see head scarfs all over your feed this summer! They’re set to be THE summer hair trend as they’re perfect for any occasion, from the beach to Zoom calls, not to mention when you’re dealing with fourth-day hair. Don’t be afraid to play around with different fabrics and tie your scarf in fun ways. Our go-to is a silk scarf as it’ll help preserve your hairstyle – from braids to a blow-dry – helping you beat frizz.

If you’re not into headscarves, opt for a headband instead. We love this logo-mania vibe seen at Dior as it gives a classic look a modern edge.

2. Ombre Lips

Ombre lips, AKA lips that are lined with a deeper shade, are seriously trending right now. Not only did we see them on the runway at shows like Schiaparelli and Kiko Kostadinov, but they were also all over the red carpet this award season.

The ombre lip shot to fame during the 90s, however, it’s had a major 2021 makeover. Instead of a nude, matte moment, we’re seeing lips drenched in gloss for a full and juicy pout. We’re loving this red, vinyl lip on Andra Day at the Golden Globes, which demonstrates how to move away from a 90s nude ombre and embrace some color.

If you’re thinking, “how am I supposed to wear a face mask?” We totally feel you, however, with the right products you can find a way to make it work. The most important thing is to find a long-lasting, transfer-proof matte formula for the base (find our faves here) then simply top up with gloss whenever you can.

3. Bold, Bright Eyes

While ombre lips are somewhat dangerous when it comes to masks, bright liner gets our seal of approval. Iconic brands like Versace, Vivienne Westwood, and Giambattista Valli are in agreement, and all experimented with eye-catching hues and playful shapes.

When it comes to bold eyeliner, there are no rules. Play with different shapes, colors, symmetry, and decorative designs. Take note from Versace and keep your lines graphic and fierce or play with different monochromatic hues as seen at Giambattista Valli. Whatever you decide, have fun!

4. Intense Black Liner

At the beginning of 2021, beauty experts predicted that eyeliner would dominate the beauty sphere, so we knew we’d see it on the runway in varying forms. Not only did we see bright, bold hues but smokey, black liner and eyeshadow in eye-framing shapes.

At Chanel, the vibe was tres gothic, with heavy kohl lining the upper and lower lash line paired with a soft, natural complexion look. Switching things up at Dior, makeup artist Peter Phillips opted for black matte eyeshadow, buffing the powder into the inner and outer corners before lightly tracing the entire lash line. #Obsessed.
