Introducing Our First Ever Huda Beauty Eyeliner: Life Liner
This has to be one of THE most exciting launches of the year! You guys have been asking me to create an eyeliner forever, and I always said no because I didn’t want to make one until I was sure it could be the best. Finally, after years of working on this liner, I am SO excited to show you our new Huda Beauty Life Liner! It’s the ultimate life proof, super matte black eyeliner that’s long-lasting (48-hour wear!!), waterproof, smudge proof, and completely fade proof.
To make sure every liner lover found their new holy grail liner, we created a dual-ended liner: At one end a liquid liner and at the other, a soft pencil. This means you can do absolutely everything with it, from a perfect wing or graphic liner look to tightlining your eyes and smudging out your look.
The Inspiration Behind Life Liner:

I wanted to make an eyeliner that was for people who were as obsessed with eyeliner as me – I feel like eyeliner can completely transform and lift the eyes, and it always makes me feel sexy! Although there are so many eyeliners I love, I realized that I had never truly found an eyeliner that was intensely black or matte enough, or one that looked as bomb from application til removal. So, my team spent two years searching for the perfect formula that would be the longest-lasting, blackest and mattest liner ever. With our unique formula, we then refined the liner and application for a further year to make it the ultimate liner.
The Life Liner Formulas:
It was really important that this should be a liner tool that could do it all, so we created two formulas and combined them so you’ll always have everything you need.
The Liquid Liner in Very Vanta
This is the longest-lasting eyeliner I’ve ever used! We combined high molecular weight silicones and silicone resins to create an elastic-like texture and a lightweight film that prevents cracking, smudging or fading so it lasts for 48 hours. The silky and unique water-free formula glides on without skipping and quickly dries to the most intense black shade (Very Vanta, aka extreme black!), unlike other liners that can have a slight grey cast.
Fun fact: It’s named Very Vanta after a material developed called VantaBlack, which is one of the darkest substances known – it absorbs up to 99.96% of visible light!!
The Liquid Liner Brush
The liner needed to give precise application and deliver intense color, so we decided on a brush, as felt tips just don’t give the most intense pigment payoff. I was SO particular about how the brush should be as the applicator is just as important as the formula for getting snatched liner.
We tapered the brush fibers and I hand-trimmed the brush tip so that it would be super precise and give flawless distribution of the formula – it took me three months of gradually shaving millimeters at a time off until we got it perfect! The result is a soft, textured fiber brush that allows you to easily create your ultimate wing without the line becoming too thick or clumpy.
The Pencil Liner in Very Vanta
I often use a pencil liner to create intensity with my look and to tightline my eyes, so adding a pencil formula was essential. The creamy formula is made with a blend of silicone resins and other unique ingredients to help it glide on effortlessly and last for eight hours of smudge-proof color. The formula also has a little playtime so you can smudge and smoke it out to your desired finish. We fitted the pencil liner with a twist-up system so you’ll never have to worry about sharpening your liner.
All my tips for lifting your eyes with Life Liner:
How to Use Life Liner Liquid Liner
Step 1: Open the liquid side of the liner and wipe off any excess formula from the brush on a tissue or your hand.
Step 2: Starting from the outer corner of your eye, begin to create your wing by drawing up and out towards the end of your brow to lift your eyes. Then work inwards towards the center of your lid.
Step 3: Complete the line by starting from the inner corner of your eye and drawing the liner in toward the center of the lid.
Allow the liner to dry for around 60 seconds, depending on how thick your line is. The thicker your liner is, the longer it will take to dry.
Tips for Using the Life Liner Pencil Liner
Add drama: For extra drama, apply it along your lower lash line on the outer corner and smudge it out to soften the look.
Tightline: My fave thing to do is to tightline the upper lash line (underneath your lashes), which adds intensity to your look and helps make your lashes look fuller. My top tip is to stay in the center and don’t go too close to the tear duct or outer corner, otherwise, it could smudge.
Get creative: You can also use the liner as a base for an intense smokey eye or for creating graphic liner looks.

Remove Life Liner with Our New Huda Beauty Makeup Remover Balm
Our Life Liner was created to last through everything life has to throw at you, so unlike most of your makeup, this won’t budge with a little soap and water. But we know you’ll want to remove your Life Liner at some point, so we created the ultimate makeup remover to make sure you can take it off easily.
We worked with the best balm makers to create a balm I’m so obsessed with (it smells ahhhhmazing!); it removes everything from your Life Liner and a full cake face to daily oil and grime. Enriched with Cherry Blossom extract, the balm gently removes makeup and leaves your skin feeling soft and conditioned, so even when you’re not using Life Liner, this is a great first step in your cleansing routine.
To use the Huda Beauty Makeup Remover Balm, apply a dime-sized amount to eyelids and gently massage the formula to dissolve makeup. Add water, and the balm texture transforms into a milky texture that washes away easily.
How to Remove Life Liner
As well as using our Huda Beauty Makeup Remover Balm, you can also use other powerful makeup removers to remove Life Liner:
Option 1: Gently massage an oil-based cleanser or waterproof, oil-based makeup remover onto eyelids to dissolve Life Liner. Then rinse with warm water and wipe away any excess formula with a cotton pad soaked in makeup remover.
Option 2: You can also remove Life Liner with a waterproof or strong performing oil-based eye makeup remover. Soaking a cotton pad in makeup remover, apply on the eyes massaging gently to break up the formula.
Option 3: Massage coconut oil onto your lids for a minute, then once the Life Liner has dissolved, rinse with water and cleanse as usual.
