The Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Pore Minimizing Primer, $32, has gained cult status over the years thanks to its pore-minimizing powers paired with its ability to guarantee your makeup lasts from noon ‘til night. Now, much to our excitement, they’ve extended the range and have dropped the ultimate pore-busting setting spray: The POREfessional: Super Setter Pore-Minimizing Setting Spray, $32. TBH, it couldn’t have come at a better time now that we’re wearing masks 24/7, so ensuring our makeup doesn’t slip and slide is our number one priority. Here’s our FULL review…

What it is: A water-based microfine mist infused with pore-blurring powders that’ll lock makeup in place with a soft-focus, instantly mattifying finish. The mess-free spray applicator gives even and featherlight application. It even comes in recyclable packaging.

What it does: The ultra-fine mist sets your makeup in place for up to 16 hours while simultaneously softening the appearance of pores and reducing shine for a natural-looking finish. We also love that it’s completely alcohol-free, and helps to make makeup waterproof, smudge-proof, and fade-proof.

What we liked: As soon as we sprayed The POREfessional: Super Setter Pore-Minimizing Setting Spray, we were seriously impressed by the super fine mist, which sat lightly on our skin and allowed for even application with absolutely no mess, splatters, or wet splodges on our flawless beat – we’ve all experienced that at some point before! Another pleasant surprise was the light, refreshing scent – it actually felt more like a skincare face mist than a setting spray, which we loved. Plus, as it’s water-based, it felt hydrating, rather than heavy or powdery like some other setting sprays.

Now onto the juicy deets: the wear test! Just as they promised, it had a slight blurring effect on our pores – of course, our pores didn’t vanish but they did soften. This lasted for the majority of the day, and our usual midday shine remained matte (in all the right areas). Overall, it gives your skin a natural finish rather than an overly-filtered effect, which is very much aligned with 2021’s biggest beauty trend: skinimalism.

After setting our makeup at 9 am, by the time our day was wrapping up, our natural beat was still intact and looked just as flawless as it did in the morning (although tbh, we did test it with our #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick, which also wears really well through the day). It even held up when we wore a mask – there was barely any transfer at all.

Our verdict: This setting spray is perfectly aligned with our 2021 beauty vibe. It feels refreshing, hydrating, and leans more towards a skin-happy mist that simultaneously keeps your makeup in place and shine-free all day long. It’s the ideal everyday product.
