TikTok Makeup Trends That Are Taking Over In 2020

TikTok has taken over 2020, and amid the COVID crisis, it’s been the escapism we never knew we needed. While the app is most commonly associated with ASMR and dance challenges, it’s also a beauty lover’s gold mine – the creativity is overflowing and the trends are straight fire! Plus, there are hundreds of TikTok beauty hacks just waiting to be discovered. From the supermodel fave, the fox eye, to clever complexion hacks and dreamy cloudscapes, here are the TikTok makeup and beauty trends going viral RN.

1. Fox Eyes

The fox eye look has been a supermodel favorite for the past two years but now thanks to TikTok it’s THE makeup look of 2020. And we understand TikTok’s obsession – it instantly snatches and lifts the eye, so needless to say, we’re in love!

2. Fox Brows

The fox brow is a straight brow rather than angular and arched. To get this brow shape, many dedicated TikTok beauty lovers shaved off the tail of their brow and redrew them with a different, upwards angle using a brow pencil (as seen above).

However if you want to test this look, you can take the less risky option by concealing your brows instead. Here’s how:

How to create the fox brow: Fill in your brows as you usually would until you reach the arch.

Starting from the arch, use an Elmer’s glue stick (Beyonce’s MUA, Sir John’s, hack for grooming brows) to glue down the tail end of your brow. Next, use powder and a full coverage concealer to cover the hair, then set it with powder. Now you technically have half a brow and a blank canvas to work with.

Fill in the front end of your brow as usual, then when you get the arch, instead of drawing down, keep the brows straight – you will be drawing above your natural hair. Finish with a clear brow gel, pushing the brows upwards for a feathered finish.

Ever since Dubai-based MUA Sophie Katirai created her butterfly filter on Instagram, “Butterfly Pretty,” the world has been low-key obsessed. The filter gained a celebrity following almost overnight, with some of the world’s most famous faces snapping selfies with the blue butterfly detailing.

While this may not be a makeup trend, it’s one of our fave TikTok trends so we had to include it. The trend, populated by pop queen Dua Lipa, is super retro, or as TikTokers describe it… SO e-girl (to save you a Google, an e-girl is basically someone with a cool online persona)!
