Fall-beauty-trends-2

As much as we hate to admit it, hot girl summer 2021 has come to an end. The good news is, fall is on its way along with chai lattes, cozy jumpers, and pumpkins galore. As for the beauty department, with each new season comes a flurry of hot new trends, so we’ve compiled five beauty trends to try ASAP before everyone else gets on the hype. After all, who doesn’t want to be the trendsetter in their squad?!

1. Green Glam Moments

Ask any fashion junkie and they’ll tell you that (Bottega) green is THE color of 2021. It’s the ultimate color flex that basically tells the world you’re in the know. Shortly after Bottega, Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga followed suit, this trend quickly cascaded onto the high street (as most do), and more importantly, onto our eyes…

Whether you opt for a soft wash of mint green like J.Lo, or add a fresh twist to the reverse cat eye trend a la MUA Ash K Holm (below), get creative, and don’t be afraid to try something new.

If you’re in need of a green eyeshadow palette, we just dropped a new collection of Wild Obsessions Eyeshadow Palettes, $29 each. Our Wild Python Obsessions palette is ideal for a green glam moment thanks to its combo of mint and metallic shades as well as other more wearable neutrals, so you can create an array of eye-popping looks.

2. Y2k Heart nails

There’s no denying that we’re currently living through a Y2K revival. You literally can’t scroll through Instagram without spotting a cowl neck halter top, butterfly clips, or dare we say, low rise jeans. The latest Y2K trend is a nail art vibe. Anyone who reads our blog will know at HB HQ, we’re low-key obsessed with nail art, so needless to say, we’re already on board.

According to Pinterest, ‘Y2K heart nails’ are the top beauty search trend for August, so hop on the trend STAT, because by October they’ll be everywhere. The design is kinda like those bubble hearts you’d doodle in your notebook alongside scribbles like ‘Matt <3’ ‘Cindy 4eva’. There’s no particular color trend, so you can mix up the vibe, from cotton candy hues to purples or green autumnal hues.

3. Dark Chocolate Locks

As we transition from sun-kissed summer hues and enter fall, we welcome richer, deep tones for our tresses. Enter stage right: dark chocolate brunette. She’s chic, she’s classy, and she’s versatile. The exact hue can vary depending on your skin tone but overall, it’s this beautiful deep chocolate that could almost be mistaken for ebony black. However, it has a softer dimension that warms in the sun and never looks dull or two-dimensional.

The main inspo for this trend? Bella Hadid – as soon as she stepped onto the red carpet, the Cannes Film Festival slaying the hue, the beauty industry took note. Ever since, she’s been serving the ultimate French girl cool waves and we’ve been loving it.

4. Grunge Girl Beauty

Grungey makeup is trending yet again. However, it’s not the 90s grunge from your emo teens years, it’s elevated to grungey avant-garde eyeliner, metallic glitter moments, and matte black color blocking. Gone are the days of basic smudged kohl liner, in 2021 it’s thoughtful, artistic, and sexy. The look combines different textures and eyeliner looks paired with glossy lips and soft contour, and it’s so pretty!

The queen of grunge makeup? Danielle Marcan. She’s constantly serving up the coolest and simultaneously chic grunge girl makeup looks. If you really want to welcome the trend, try your hand at bleached brows – it instantly adds a punk twist that’s so hot right now.

If matte black makeup feels a little daunting, go for a metallic smokey moment. We’ve been using our new Jaguar Wild Obsessions Palette, $39, to create grungey but glam looks and it’s too easy.

5. Micro Braids

More recently, protective styles like jumbo or knotless braids have been having their moment. However, now that salons are back open and don’t appear to be closing any time soon (can we get a hallelujah?!) intricate braiding styles are springing back onto the scene.

Welcome microbraids to the chat, AKA tiny intricate box braids. While it’s deffo a more high maintenance style that takes longer to install, they’re undeniably stunning and they actually have a much longer shelf life than jumbo braids. So, you could argue it’s all worth it!

You could even pair micro braids with another hot braiding trend – loose braids. This will also help cut down on installation time. We’re loving these undone braids on celebrity hairstylist Sabrina Porsche.
