5 Vulva-Friendly Products We Never Knew We Needed
Okay, okay, so we don’t NEED these products, but after using them for a few months, they’re now a solid part of our beauty routine. We’ll be real with you, we (probably like you) thought that feminine hygiene products were a complete waste of time – just another hype to get our money – but after some thorough research into the topic, we’re really getting on board with all kinds of products! We’ve tried everything from luminizers and exfoliators (not our faves) to deodorants and VJJ mists – yep, that’s a thing! Here are five we’re REALLY loving and can’t imagine our routines without:
DeoDoc Intimate Calming Oil, $32
This intimate oil is designed to help soothe the delicate vulvar skin that can get irritated after working out, during your period, or just after wearing an extremely tight pair of jeans! The blend of natural oils, including chamomile, shea butter, and sunflower seed oil, really help to smooth and soothe the area, and it’s great to use before all kinds of activities, whether you’re wearing underwear or not (it’s not greasy). This is our go-to before bed.
And in case you’re worried, the DeoDoc range was developed by gynecologists to be extra gentle, pH-balanced, hypoallergenic and all their products are dermatologically-tested. This product should only be used externally.
Queen V Pop The Bubbly Bubble Bath, $9
If you’re a huge fan of soaking in the bath to end a busy day at the office but you’ve had way too many thrush encounters to feel safe in a tub full of bubbles, then this is your new best friend! This beautifully scented, moisturizing bubble bath is lightly scented with essential oil fragrance, and is enriched with skin-soothing ingredients like green tea, chamomile, aloe vera and mango. It bubbles up nicely, smells great, and you won’t need to worry about irritation because it’s pH-balanced to be friendly to your Queen V.
Deo Doc Daily Intimate Wash, $26
This VJJ wash smells so great we’d love to use it all over our bodies! Specifically formulated for your delicate vulvar skin, this coconut-scented formula is pH-balanced, hypoallergenic, and free from parabens and works to cleanse the skin of sweat while ‘preventing bad bacteria thriving in warm (often tightly-clad!) environments.’ The packaging is also so pretty we’d happily include it in our bathroom shelfie!
Fur Stubble Cream, $38
What we love about Fur is that this brand doesn’t judge; they provide solutions for ‘bush is back’ and ‘skin is in.’ This stubble cream is here for the fans of the latter category and is designed to hydrate and smooth the skin to prevent ingrown hairs post-shave, and it can be used to soothe bumps and razor burn. In fact, as well as using this on and around pubic hair, you can use it all over the body, like armpits or legs and it’s designed to soften stubble and help hair appear finer as it grows back.
The vegan, 100% natural formula (no parabens, silicones or artificial fragrance) boasts hydrating shea butter and jojoba oil rich in vitamins, and tea tree and lavender oil, which are anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal. Best of all it sinks in quickly, and most importantly, it actually works, and we saw a considerable decrease in ingrown hairs while using this formula.
Posts You'll Love:
DeoDoc Intimate Deowipes, $19
Okay, so these are a bit pricey considering you only get 10 in a box, but we love these super soft, individually wrapped wipes. Each one smells like coconuts and is saturated with moisturizing olive oil, aloe vera, and vitamin E to help effectively cleanse, soothe and leave the vulvar skin calm and fresh. So even though we know our vagina isn’t meant to smell like a coconut (as a gyno once told us, ‘vaginas are meant to smell like vaginas, not roses’), we still don’t mind that it does after these wipes.
For a more affordable version of these wipes, check out the Queen V Swipe Right pH-Balanced Feminine Wipes, $7, which also smell like coconuts! Although these don’t come individually wrapped, you get 32 wipes, so they’re great for keeping at home for when you want to freshen up.
