new concealers 2020

The search for the perfect concealer can feel never ending, but formulations are improving by the minute and brands are working swiftly to cater to everyone’s specific needs. Maybe you have dry skin and need a creamy concealer that blends and covers without exacerbating dry patches, or perhaps your undereye circles are so dark you need max coverage and some light shifting pigments to diffuse imperfections, or maybe your current go-to is a crease monster or fades away two hours into your day. Whatever the case, it’s worth exploring what’s new to the market, and these highly reviewed just-launched concealers are a great place to start.

1. e.l.f. Cosmetics Hydrating Camo Concealer, $6

e.l.f. Cosmetics Hydrating Camo Concealer

You’ll have a hard time finding a concealer that costs less and has as much positive feedback as e.l.f. Cosmetics’ new Hydrating Camo Concealer. The brand really knocked it out of the park with their 16HR Camo Concealer, but ultimately decided to launch another (very similar) product with a more hydrating formulation ideal for those with dry or combo skin.

Like the original, this one boasts full coverage and a crease-resistant formula, but the inclusion of sodium hyaluronate means you have a moisturized and satin finish versus a matte finish. In our opinion, even if you do have oily skin, it’s better to have a hydrating concealer under your eyes because this area tends to be dry on everyone, and it eliminates a potential for creasing. It might make more sense to use the OG version on other areas of your face, though, if you have oily skin or if you prefer a more matte finish.

2. Hourglass Vanish™ Airbrush Concealer, $34

Hourglass Vanish™ Airbrush Concealer

This shiny new concealer by Hourglass is barely a couple of weeks old and has already sent the beauty world spinning in joyous circles. Beauty editors are shouting from the rooftop over its longevity and coverage, YouTube beauty gurus are singing its praises, and raving reviews are piling up as you read this. Though full coverage, Vanish goes on incredibly light and locks in quickly to prevent creasing, smearing, and fading throughout the day. It’s made with microspherical powders that blur and brighten, camellia to hydrate, and cica to soothe.

3. ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Creamy Concealer, $9

ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Creamy Concealer

ColourPop’s Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Creamy Concealer is also very new to the beauty scene and has received a ton of buzz from vloggers and makeup artists, specifically. It’s part of the Pretty Fresh line, which aims to provide sheer, lightweight coverage and moisturize skin. Think dewy and natural versus heavy and matte.

In any case, the Creamy Concealer is the newest addition to the Pretty Fresh lineup, and it’s perfect for dry, combo, and oily skin types. As you’d expect, it provides more coverage than the Pretty Fresh Tinted Moisturizer, but it still has that moisturizing, lightweight feel to it thanks to the inclusion of hyaluronic acid and coconut water.

4. Physician’s Formula Natural Defense Total Coverage with SPF, $9

Physician’s Formula Natural Defense Total Coverage with SPF

ColourPop isn’t the only cost-friendly brand to launch an entirely new line. In January 2020, Physician’s Formula debuted The Natural Defense Collection, a five-piece set that features their proprietary “360° Total Defense Complex” which aims to protect skin from blue light, pollution, and the sun’s UV rays. The concealer boasts a 30 SPF which is amazing, but beyond that it actually conceals like a boss. The formula is lightweight and buildable in coverage, has a blurring/softening effect, and the product itself has a built-in sponge-tip that makes for easy, on-the-go application.

5. Becca Cosmetics Light Shifter Brightening Concealer, $28

Becca Cosmetics Light Shifter Brightening Concealer

The brand that brought us the cult-favorite Shimmering Skin Perfect – and is synonymous with delivering that “lit from within” glow – has done it again with their freshly debuted Light Shifter Brightening Concealer. In addition to being formulated with hydrating hyaluronic acid and soothing green tea, it contains skin brightening crystalized licorice and light shifting pigments that diffuse imperfections for a flawless, glowing finish. The formula is lightweight and buildable, and in addition to using it as a concealer, you can apply it to high points on the face for a subtle sculpting effect. It also has a built-in sponge tip.

6. Stila Pixel Perfect Concealer, $24

Stila Pixel Perfect Concealer

Launched the first week of January 2020, Stila’s Pixel Perfect Concealer is super creamy in texture and, though it doesn’t hold back in terms of coverage, melts into the skin for a natural, crease-free finish. What makes it particularly special is that it has ingredients built in that don’t just conceal and correct in the short term, but that work harder for you to improve the quality of your skin over the long term. It’s infused with elderflower, Irish sea moss, and baobab extracts, which help calm, de-puff, and nourish the sensitive skin around your eyes.
