Crystal Beauty Is The Trend We’re 100% Obsessed With
Humans have been obsessed with crystals since basically the beginning of time, which makes sense because they’re pretty AF. For example, ancient Egyptians incorporated them into their jewelry (a practice we continue to this very day), warriors wore them on their armor, and royalty continue bedazzling their fancy crowns with them.
Throughout history, crystals haven’t just served as eye candy, though. Ancient Sumerians incorporated gemstones into magical “healing potions,” and in the Renaissance certain precious stones were used to treat physical, mental, and spiritual conditions. To some, it may all sound far-fetched, but even today you can easily find a new age store continuing in these practices, allowing customers to buy specific crystals according to what ails them.
The truth is that there’s not much (if any) concrete data on the “healing powers of crystals.” Still, they’re beautiful to look at and countless people swear by them anecdotally. Whatever you believe, it’s hard to resist the innate beauty and allure of crystals, and these crystal-infused beauty products have taken advantage of that.
CoverFx Crystal Infused Elixir Mist Duo, $30
This duo from CoverFx helps keep skin hydrated, nourished, and protected. Rose Quartz + Defense wards off blue light and environmental nasties, and Aquamarine + Hydrating really doubles down on moisture for skin that gleams. Keep them in your purse or deskside for pick-me-ups!
Sephora Collection Crystal Facial Roller Set, $34
Sephora tends to be pretty quiet about its new product launches, so you might not be aware of the fact that they recently debuted an entire lineup of crystal and gemstone goodies. Some of our favorites include their Rose Quartz Eye Mask, Facial Sculpting Set, and this Crystal Facial Roller Set, which features three interchangeable heads made from Rose Quartz, Amethyst, and Jade. They’re meant to soothe, cool, and reduce puffiness and can also help with lymphatic drainage.
Pacifica Sugared Crystal Supercharged Body Scrub, $16
Pacifica also has a crystal-inspired collection, which hit stores in early 2019. The packaging is gorgeous, but more importantly, the products have a sense of lightheartedness to them and work well. The Sugared Crystal Supercharged Body Scrub – which is “supercharged” with quartz crystals and smells like watermelon – is an easy favorite.
Mazz Hanna Amethyst Infusion Cuticle Oil, $28
Your cuticles deserve some TLC, which is precisely the mission of this product from celebrity manicurist Mazz Hanna. The oil itself is a blend of jojoba, hemp seed, lavender, and geranium, but the amethyst roller ball at the top def elevates the glam factor. And, if you believe in the healing power of crystals, the amethyst is intended to “help break bad habits, including nail-biting and cuticle picking.”
Kaja Moon Crystal Sparkling Eye Pigment, $16
Even cosmetics are joining in on the crystal infusion fun. Kaja’s Moon Crystal Sparkling Eye Pigment, which comes in eight ethereal hues, is a “jelly eyeshadow enhanced with real crystal powders for a vivid, shimmering finish.” The crystals used include topaz, diamond, and sapphire powders.
Energy Muse Amethyst Crystal Eye Mask, $75
Though it is certainly a splurge, if you’re a crystal believer, then this is the bougie eye mask for you. The mask is made entirely with amethyst crystals and is meant to help bring the wearer to a place of serenity and calmness. Beyond that, the coolness of the stones can actually help with puffiness and tension, and the weight of the mask can even help you feel more grounded.
Herbivore Botanicals Brighten Pineapple + Gemstone Mask, $48
If you’re familiar with the Herbivore Botanicals lineup, you probably already noticed that the brand uses crystals and gemstones frequently in their products. That includes beauty tools – such as the Lapis Ritual Kit that includes a Lapis gua sha tool – as well as body scrubs and oils that contain quartz, citrine, and amethyst. Their Brighten Pineapple + Gemstone Mask is especially noteworthy. It’s made with pineapple enzymes, rice powder, and micronized tourmaline gemstone to exfoliate, brighten, and smooth skin – love!
