frizzy hair mask

It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, hair types like mine really need some extra love ALL the time. I have about a month in spring and autumn when my hair does not go full frizz on me, but other than that, taming my hair with rich conditioners is my secret to sleeker, softer, and healthier hair.

I cannot tell you how long I’ve been obsessed with the Pantene Smooth & Sleek 3 Minute Miracle Daily Conditioner, $4! I’ve probably been using this mask for at least 10 years, and I find whenever my hair needs some serious TLC and frizz-control, this is my go-to.

If you have fine hair that just needs a little love, you can use this as a conditioning mask, but stay away from your roots. As my hair is thick, has a lot of volume, and likes to go wild whenever it comes into contact with moisture, I like to use this as a leave-in treatment. Once I’ve shampooed and conditioner (I always leave my conditioner in for around five minutes) I add a coin-sized amount of this to my hair while it’s still soaking wet, and comb it through my hair with my fingers.

Pantene

The formula contains 80% more conditioning ingredients than a regular conditioner and because it has crazy high levels of Terminal Amino-Silicones (TAS), that smooth and flatten the outer cells of the hair cuticle, so it keeps hair protected and decreases moisture loss. Leaving this product in really helps to define my curls, control frizz, and just generally keep it looking and feeling healthy.

My hair stylist also recently recommended using castor oil in my hair! I’ve used castor oil as a DIY for thickening and conditioning my lashes before, as it’s packed with fatty acids that can strengthen hair, but I’d never thought the thick texture would work well in my hair. So, I’ve been combining a few drops of castor oil with this mask treatment whenever I apply it, which works really well, and so far I love it.

I’d love to know if you guys have any other hair masks that you recommend for taming frizz – if you have thick curly hair, you’ll know the struggle is real!
