How A Celeb Brow Artist Keeps Brows Healthy & Fresh AF
We pluck, shave, comb, and fill-in, but have you ever reserved a few minutes of your beauty process to give your brows some genuine TLC? We’re talking gentle grooming, much-needed moisture, and thorough cleansing.
“Brow care is extremely important because. Just like the hair on our heads, brows require to be cleansed and conditioned,” notes René de la Garza, celebrity brow artist to Lizzo, Cardi B, and Noah Cyrus. “Incorporating brow care into your routine helps maintain long-term fullness and boosts shine that makes the skin and hair look healthy.”

Equally, not taking time to tend to our brows can potentially cause them to become brittle, short, or even patchy. If you’re not quite sure where to start with your new brow care regimen, we gotchu. Just follow these pro tips and you’ll have the prettiest brows in all the land.
The products we apply to our brows — including eyebrow pencils, gels, waxes, glosses, and tints — should come off at the end of the day. This can be a little tricky, though, since brow products are built to stay put. Basically: you need to put a little elbow grease into it.
“Cleansing your brows daily ensures that all makeup residue is cleared. This [can help] prevent pore blockage, which could ultimately stunt the growth of brows,” explains Garza. “Cleansing balms and cleansing oils are the best and more nourishing form of brow makeup removal.”

Moisturizing your eyebrows is as simple as ensuring the product you apply to the rest of your face also touches your brows. However, if you wanted to buy a special moisturizing product that promotes shiny hair, you can do that, as well.
“Moisturizing your brows daily helps your brows become shiny, healthy, and strengthened. It can also prevent breakage,” says Garza.
Specifically, he recommends incorporating brow serums formulated with peptides, which can help boost fullness and promote new growth for any sparse areas.
Joey Healy, celebrity eyebrow expert and founder of Joey Healy Eyebrow Studio, agrees. He says, “Peptides really work to promote brow growth and health in a safe way. A good topical serum really helps everything come together in terms of elasticity, shine, smoothness, and making the pores nice and tight around the brows.”
Brushing the hair on your head disperses oils from the scalp through the strands themselves. There’s even some data that suggests doing so can stimulate the follicle. Combing your eyebrows can have the same effect, and doing so is simple enough to add to your beauty routine.
Healy says to grab a clean, dry spoolie and gently brush your brows in the direction of growth before applying any product. “You don’t want to scrub them and put a lot of pressure because this can increase the shedding process. A light brush through is recommended,” he advises.
After applying your product, you can brush through them once again for a polished finish.
Take Some Vitamins
Though science is still underway, current data suggests that taking certain vitamins and supplements can improve the quality of our hair on our entire body.
“I think [vitamins] are wonderful for your hair. Not just the hair on your head, but also your lashes and eyebrows,” says Healy. “When you have that one-two punch of topical application and a vitamin, you’re really doing more to help your hair.”
Rely on Brow Pros
With all that hard work you’re putting in to make your brows healthier, it’s definitely worthwhile to rely on beauty pros for your brow maintenance. After all, we can get a tad too plucky when tending to them ourselves, and there’s even the possibility of accidentally removing too much hair or making our brows uneven.
Garza says that leaning on a professional brow artist will help you create brows that look full, symmetrical, and healthier. We’ll cheers a peptide-infused brow serum to that advice!
