Beauty News

After two years, a pandemic, a new Hulu show, one major hair color transformation, and a baby, Kendall and Kylie are back with a new collection. In case you’re not all caught up, it’s safe to say everyone was super hyped about the new makeup collection, which features an all-matte eyeshadow palette, lip crayons, blushes, highlighters, and a gloss.

The vibe is, of course, a perfect blend of the two iconic sisters – there are the more natural options Kendall is known for, and an ode to the glam Insta-beat Kylie slays on the regular. Naturally, we were intrigued to try it, especially since the first collection was a sellout success. Here’s our honest review…

KENDALL Pressed Powder Palette, $49

What it is: A matte moment. Each palette contains 18 super-pigmented, buttery mattes in warm and cool tones. The shadows are smooth, easy to blend, and long-lasting. From vibrant pink hues to neutral tones, there’s a wide range of shades to help you create an array of looks.

Our thoughts: Okay, so first up let’s address the obvious – it’s all matte. We have to admit, we were surprised to see no shimmers, but according to Kylie, Kendall was insistent on an all-matte palette, and clearly, she won that debate. As much as we love an all-matte look, we would’ve loved to see more formulas, especially since the powder highlighter was so pretty, but more on that later…

As soon as we dipped our blending blush into the powder, we could see some fallout. And this was more obvious on application, however, with that said, the shadows blended well and they’re really nicely pigmented. We also liked the shade selection and appreciated the mix of warm and cool tones. Another thing we liked was the use of neutrals that allowed you to create a neutral eye with a cut crease, as well as the black and brown shades for a smoked-out wing. However, it would’ve been nice to see a few more colorful shades as we love experimenting with bold hues ATM. We also love the names of the shades. They’re so fun and cute, like Jenner Genes and Big Sister.

We created a warm smokey eye moment, and the look really held up. Our main piece of advice? Do your eyeshadow before you do your complexion to avoid fallout from gathering on a freshly laid complexion.

KENDALL Blush and Highlighter Cheek Quad, $40

What it is: The limited-edition quad features two blush shades in cream and powder, and two highlighters, also in cream and powder formulas.

Our thoughts: Firstly, we love that there are two formulas for each product so you can easily switch it up depending on your makeup vibe. Both the highlighters were super pretty. The pigment payoff from the powder formula is impressive and left our skin with a really stunning golden glow. The cream formula effortlessly melts on the skin and has a natural dewy finish that’s perfect for those less-is-more makeup days.

As for the blush, the berry-toned cream blush was our fave. It’s well pigmented so be careful! By just dabbing a little onto the highpoints of our face, it instantly snatched our cheekbones for a rosy glow. The powder blush shade is pretty for fairer skin tones, however, on medium to rich skin tones it does give an ashy appearance.

We also have to take a minute to appreciate the packing. The extra-large mirror is great for touching up makeup on the go, and it has this cool magnetic closure, which as beauty nerds, we find exciting. It’s kinda giving us NARS vibes and we’re not mad!

KENDALL Lip Crayon Set, $32

What it is: A creamy, non-drying matte crayon in three highly-pigmented pink-toned shades. The new velvet formula is smudge-resistant, super comfortable, and of course, long-lasting.

Our thoughts: We immediately fell in love with these three shades. They’re so pretty! Plus, we tried them on an array of skin tones and they were universally flattering. As for the formula, it glides onto your lips and feels really creamy and comfortable. One person in our office noted that it felt a little dry on their lips, so make sure your lips are hydrated before applying.

Once we allowed it time to set, it also didn’t transfer, which is a major bonus. Thanks to the crayon tip, it’s also really easy to apply and reapply, making it our new handbag staple. Plus, as you get three for $32, it works out at under $11 each.

KENDALL Lip Gloss, $16

What it is: A lightweight high-shine lip gloss in a peachy nude shimmer shade. Formulated with peppermint oil, it has a fresh mint sensation for plump, fuller-looking lips.

Our thoughts: After applying the gloss, we wouldn’t say that it’s that lightweight, as it does have quite a rich consistency. That said, it doesn’t feel sticky and it has a fresh, shimmery finish. As the shade is very peachy, it did alter the color of the crayons when we layered it on top, so bear that in mind if you’re playing around. By itself, it’s a such pretty shade and looks good on both fair to rich skin tones.
