NARSissist's Unfiltered Cheek Palettes - Hit or Miss?

For makeup lovers like me, running around LA to every beauty boutique to get your hands on the limited edition NARSissist Unfiltered Cheek Palettes will seem totally normal – and yes, that’s what I did! I was sooo excited to get my hands on these two palettes, I mean, a six-shade offering in one palette is a dream. They’re also great value for money; considering a NARS full-size blush retails for $30, and these palettes include six almost full-sized shades for $59, you’re definitely getting your money’s worth.

What it is: A limited edition collection of six blush shades. Unfiltered I offer a rich collection of berry hues that will best complement deeper skin tones, and the Unfiltered II palette offers six pink-toned blush shades that will suit lighter skin tones.

What it does: It’s designed to sculpt, shape, and add a glow to cheeks with a variety of bold matte and shimmering shades.

What I liked: NARS really got their packaging spot on with this, I LOVE the size and the mirrored casing, and it also includes a full-size mirror inside. Although it’s a bit big to carry around in your handbag, it’s still not too big for traveling. My favorite color was Out There, a dark dusky rose shade from the Unfiltered I palette, and I liked that they included some paler, shimmering shades in both palettes that can be used to highlight too. The texture was creamy and felt really velvety, but even though some shades seemed quite intense and buildable when applied, they did seem to wear off over the day.

What I didn’t like: I was so excited about this palette, but unfortunately, the color offering disappointed me. I feel that with both palettes, the shades aren’t overly wearable, and the pigment intensity wasn’t strong enough. The colors are buildable, and it also suggests wetting a brush to pick up more pigment, but I feel like I shouldn’t have to do this. I can’t say I’ll be using either of these palettes again, but they’re so pretty I just have to keep them on my desk!
