Obsessing Over... Kat Von D Alchemist Palette!
I’ve always been a huge fan of Kat Von D and absolutely love most of her products! I’m obsessed with her Ink Liner as well as the Shade & Light Contour Palette. I was extremely excited when I saw Alchemist Palette on social media a few months back and just HAD to order it the second I saw it available on Sephora! I must admit, when I first received the palette I was surprised by how small it is – but given the price, I do think you’re getting your money’s worth. It’s an intensely pigmented palette and def something you need to apply lightly at first and slowly build up. It applies very evenly with little to no fallout. I also tried mixing two shades together which worked quite nicely – so this palette is something you can play around with to create several different looks and shades.
What it is: An eye, lip, and face transformer palette with four holographic shades.
What it does: It is a super-shimmery iridescent highlighting palette filled with endless possibilities which you can apply on your eyelids, cheekbones, lips, nose and your collarbone.
What we liked: Kat Von D truly killed the packaging and I’m obsessed with the intense pigmentation of this palette. It’s actually so pigmented you need to be really careful when applying it to avoid a super colorful, bold highlight. The product picks up easily and I used a fluffy brush (which I normally wouldn’t use) and a fan brush, and both worked perfectly. If I had to compare it to the Anastasia Beverley Hills Moonchild Palette, it’s definitely more intense in terms of pigmentation and color. You can use this palette as an eyeshadow as well by applying it over a black or brown shadow to create different shades. This is a very cool concept and really emphasizes the inspiration behind the palette, which was the ancient science of Alchemy – the art of transforming natural materials into a precious elixir. My fav color is ‘Opal’ which is a soft, cute pink.
What we didn’t like: Although I love how this palette is very Kat Von D and true to her brand, personally the colors did not work for my skin tone. I wish they weren’t as frosty and didn’t have such a strong white undertone.
