The term vision board is synonymous with Pinterest – it’s the ultimate online creative space where you plan for the future, which also makes it the G.O.A.T source for trend predictions. Each and every year, Pinterest release a trend prediction report that’s bursting with insider intel on everything, from home, beauty, and wellness trends that are high-key aboutta blow UP. According to Pinterest, their predictions for the past three years have been 80% correct, which is hella impressive.

As per, we’re here to ensure you stay ahead of the trends, so we’ve rounded up our fave predictions and given you our hot take. Without further ado, here’s some insight into what 2023 will look like according to Pinterest…

Pinterest Predicts: Micro Makeover

The Pinterest Tea: “From micro manis to barely-there bobs, this year’s beauty looks will be a cut above the rest. Millennials and Gen Z are trading in their long, coffin-shaped nails for mini French manis. They’ll opt for short braids and chopped bangs instead of long, luscious locks. In 2023, small beauty gets its big break.”

The HB Hot Take: In short: keep it short. TBH, we’re not mad at this trend because as much as we love long nails and bangs, they’re high maintenance and make simple tasks kinda difficult. Plus, ever since we watched Emily in Paris, we’ve been lusting over a chic French girl bob and cropped fringe.

The HB Hot Take: Partying our way through 2023 covered in glitter, neon liner, and diamantes? Count us in. When it comes to rave culture beauty looks, there really are no rules; live your life and if you want to wear neon eyeliner and a fuchsia lip, be our guest. But, if you want to bring the rave energy into your daily life, choose one key feature and keep the rest of your makeup minimal. Oh, and DUH, look to Euphoria for inspo.

Pinterest Predicts: Romcom Core

The Pinterest Tea: “Move over, barbiecore – there’s a new main character in fashion. In 2023, Gen Z and Millennials will romanticize their closets with slip dresses, tube tops, cargo pants, and claw clips. Get ready for a new kind of meet-cute, inspired by your favorite romantic comedies from the 2000s.”

The HB Hot Take: We realize this is more a fashion trend, but fashion without beauty is like bread without butter – nowhere near as delicious. Look at 2000 rom-com icons like Gabrielle Union, Cameron Diaz, and J.Lo for inspo. The makeup is actually aligned with so many of the TikTok trends you know and love – icy lids, tons of blush, and nude lip gloss. As for the hair, think curtain bangs, cute bobs, and natural texture.

Pinterest Predicts: Gemini Hair

The Pinterest Tea: “In 2023, two-toned tresses will take off more than ever. Gen Z and Millennials are behind this rising trend in hair color that mixes natural hues with bright blues, purples, and pinks –“blue and black braids” and “lavender and blonde hair” are on the up. Two is always better than one, just ask the Gemini in your life.”

The HB Hot Take: A two-toned hair look is crazy cute, but it’s high maintenance, so all we’re saying is to read our hair coloring guide before you commit. Oh, and follow Bleach London for endless hair color inspo and tips.

The Pinterest Tea: “If you want to get a head start on hair care in 2023, go back to your roots. “Skinification,” or a focus on the scalp and crown of your head, will be a priority this year. Searches from Gen X and Boomers show an uptick in care for the scalp, like “scalp treatment” and “clean scalp.” This is your chance at a root revival. Now, who wants a scalp massage?”

The HB Hot Take: Skincare has reigned firmly for the past two years, but it’s time for haircare to take over. In 2023, indulge in a monthly HAIRcial, invest in that shower filter for the health of your tresses, and take scalp care seriously. Trust us, by the close of the year, your crown will be thanking you.

The HB Hot Take: A lot of people consider baths the wellness wash place, but showers actually have so many other health benefits (asides from the obvious). For instance, studies show they can help soothe anxiety, so this year level up your shower routine as there are so many new shower products to try. But first, make sure you’re not making these shower mistakes.

Pinterest Predicts: Vitamin Seaweed

The Pinterest Tea: “In 2023, the hottest superfoods will be from the sea. A long-standing staple in Asian cultures, ocean-based foods and minerals are growing in popularity among Millennials and Gen X all over the globe thanks to their much-needed health benefits. Everything from green algae and nori to seaweed snacks is trending up.”

The HB Hot Take: The beauty industry has been shining a light on seaweed for the past year but expect it to dominate in 2023. Why so? It’s super hydrating, will help strengthen your skin, and it’s bursting with antioxidants and minerals. Our go-to seaweed product RN is the OSEA Hyaluronic Sea Serum, $88, it keeps our skin plump, bouncy, and soft year-round. As for your hair, it’s a fast-track ticket to shinier, healthy strands, so get on the seaweed hype stat.

Pinterest Predicts: Now Processing

The Pinterest Tea: “More ways to feel your feels in 2023. Alternatives to talk therapy are on the rise – like expressive art and music therapy – as well as art journaling, which is up a whopping 37x. Gen Z and Millennials are driving this trend, seeking new, creative ways to work on themselves.”

The HB Hot Take: One of our new year’s resolutions is to update our self-care routine, and it seems we’re not the only ones. Even if you wouldn’t consider yourself a creative person, try and unleash your creative juices for the sake of your mental health. Even if you do absolutely nothing with the art you create, it’s the process that’s important – we bet you’ll feel better after, and that’s all that counts. So break out your paints and let your mind wander. Failing that, why not curate a feel-good playlist, pop in your AirPods, and just do nothing?
