9 Drugstore Makeup Products Celeb MUAs LOVE!
Whenever we get the opportunity to quiz celeb MUAs on what’s stashed inside their makeup kit, we always ask if they have any faves from the drugstore. And honestly, 90% of the time the answer is yes. We recently chatted with four incredible celeb MUAs, Keita Moore, Porsche Cooper, Ashunta Sherriff-Kendricks, and Alana Wright, whose client roster includes Nicki Minaj, Halima Aiden, and Tiffany Haddish. And as per usual, they spilled the deets on their fave drugstore formulas, from the $7 lipstick that lasts all day long to the brow pencil they couldn’t live without…
1. For Mask-Proof Lipstick: Milani Cosmetics Amore Soft Matte Lip Crème, $7
Celeb MUA Ashunta Sheriff-Kendricks revealed that this drugstore lipstick is her go-to whenever she’s on set thanks to its impressive staying power. She explains, “I love Milani Cosmetics Amore Soft Matte Lip Crème – I’ve been using them for years on “Cookie” a character played by Taraji P. Henson on the Fox hit show Empire. These lip colors are super pigmented and they last all day long!” We couldn’t agree more – we’re obsessed with the creamy formula, which feels like velvet on your lips.
2. For Complexion Goals: BLK/OPL True Color Skin Perfecting Stick Foundation SPF 15, $10
Celeb MUA, Porsche Cooper, who regularly paints the faces of celebs like Mary J. Blige and Winnie Harlow, revealed her ride-or-die foundation is a drugstore find. “For deeper skin tones especially, I swear by BLK/OPL foundation sticks. With a myriad of shades and undertones, the foundations can be used as a concealer or foundation or to contour the high planes of your face. I still use them in my makeup kit to this day,” says Porsche.
3. For Oily Skin: IMAN Cosmetics Luxury Pressed Powder, $16
If you’re on the hunt for a new mattifying powder, according to Keita Moore this IMAN Cosmetics Pressed Powder is about to be your new BFF. The lightweight powder helps control oil production while softening the appearance of pores and imperfections for a flawless, filtered finish. It’s also available in six shades, ranging from fair to deep.
4. For Full Brows: Revlon ColorStay Brow Pencil, $9
Revlon’s ColorStay Brow Pencil, $9, is loved by both Alana Wright and Porsche Cooper! Porsche Cooper explains why she’s obsessed, “They have a waterproof formula that allows you to seamlessly give your brows a naturally filled in look. The spooley on the opposite end is an added bonus for brushing up your brows before and after application.”
5. For Sexy Lashes: Kiss Lash Couture Faux Lash Extensions, $7
Once again, this isn’t the first time a celeb MUA has recommended KISS Lashes – according to Alexx Mayo, Lizzo’s go-to MUA, she wore a set of KISS falsies to the 2020 Grammys! However, Alana Wright tells us she prefers the individual lashes and we totally understand the obsession. Each cluster features flat-band technology for a more natural look. Another major bonus? They’re easier to apply than strip lashes!
