No-makeup makeup has dominated the beauty space in the last two years and has become everyone’s go-to look during lockdown. However, since restrictions have eased, celebs have opted for a soft-bronzed glam look, AKA lightly contoured lids paired with a “nude” lip, and a warm glow.

When you think about it, the popularity of this trend makes total sense – after wearing minimal makeup for months (if any) the idea of wearing a dramatic eye teamed with a bold lip seems foreign. Instead, this look uses warm, nude-for-you tones to enhance and sculpt your natural features for a demure and sexy final look.

Another major bonus? As it focuses on natural skin tones it’s super versatile and looks great on everyone. From Beyoncé and Lizzo at the virtual BET awards to Khloe Kardashian’s birthday week glam, all of the celebs and their makeup artists are experimenting with the trend. We’re calling it: the new no-makeup makeup. Here’s how to achieve the look at home…

Find your Soft Glam Color Palette

This look sculpts and chisels the natural contours of your face using soft nude shadows and bronze shimmers. To find your ideal color palette, as with all makeup looks, consider your undertone. If you have a cool undertone, avoid yellow hues, and steer away from orange tinges. If you have a warm undertone, look for peachy pink shades, orange-toned reds, and warm browns.

Keep the Look Monochromatic

Once you’re familiar with your undertone, keep the look monochromatic by using the same hues for your eyes, cheeks, and lips. This will help you create a harmonious, cohesive look. It’s easy to achieve and instantly elevates your look.

If you have a warm undertone, like Beyoncé, opt for a golden brown eyeshadow, paired with a brown-toned nude lip like the Huda Beauty Power Bullet Matte Lipstick in shade Board Meeting, $25. Complete the look with a warm, peachy blush – we’re currently obsessed with the Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush, $20, in the tangy shade Fuego Flush, $20.

If you have a cool undertone, opt for bronze shades with a grey undertone and pair it with a blue-toned, pink blush like the NARS Blush in shade Impassioned, $30. Finish the look with a clear gloss like our Huda Beauty Silk Balm Hydra-Plumping Lip Balm, $20.

Contour your Eyes

For this look, start by contouring your lid using an eyeshadow two shades deeper than your natural skin tone. Apply the shade into the crease of your lid, which will instantly add dimension to the eye. Don’t be afraid to drag the eyeshadow outwards to the tail of your brow – this is a makeup hack all the celeb MUAs are loving RN, especially for this look.

Once you’ve contoured your lid, the rest is up to you. You can choose to keep it matte, like Kim Kardashian, or add dimension with shimmer, like Jackie Aina.

If you want to amp up this look, then long, fluttery lashes, like our Huda Beauty Samantha Lashes, $24, are perfect as they’re whispy and sexy yet still natural-looking.

Create The Perfect Nude Lip

When it comes to perfecting a nude lip, it’s all about contour! To naturally contour your lips, start by taking a nude-toned lip pencil and line the outer edge of your lips, then fill in the entire lip – this will create a long-lasting base of color. If you want to overline the lip for a fuller pout, remember to build the line gradually!

Next, apply a lip color in the same (or similar) shade as your pencil. Complete the contour by taking a lip color in a lighter shade, and dab it on the center of your lips and blend out.

For even more volume, add a nude gloss or lip oil – the added shine will make your lips look plumper. Our new Silk Balm Lip Balm, $20, is ideal as it not only adds a killer shine but the formula will softly plump your lips.
