Tarte’s New Lip Gloss Is Giving Us Major Summer Vibes

H20 lip glosses

There’s just something so right about a glossy lip when the sun is shining, and although we won’t be forgetting our mattes anytime soon, we love the more playful vibe of a shining pout. Earlier this month, we tried the Urban Decay Hi-Fi Shine Gloss, so of course, we were excited to see how this new offering from Tarte would compare. Adding to their Rainforest of the Sea collection, Tarte’s new H2O Lip Gloss is a high-shine, hydrating gloss packed with all the benefits their sea-inspired collection is loved for. Here’s what we thought.

What it is: A water-based gloss with 14 shades in holographic, pearlescent, shimmering, and richly pigmented, high-shine finishes.

What it does: Boasting antioxidant-rich algae, marine plant extracts, and vitamin E, the formula smooths and softens fine lines while concentrated mineral pigments nourish and paint lips with lasting color.

What we liked: This quite literally smells like a tropical holiday in a tube – think piña coladas and fresh sea breeze – and we love this vibe while we plan our holiday vacay. The gloss feels very hydrating and a little bit sticky but still comfortable – just be careful not to use too much, or it could build up in the corners of your lips. The formula lasts for an insane amount of time, considering it’s a gloss, and because the high-shine glosses are packed with pigment, it almost stains your lips as well.

Huda’s verdict: The shade range is really pretty and has some gorgeous, super bright colors that are perfect for summer. Some of the very pale shades, like Sandy Toes and Sundress, have a whitish pigment that can settle into the fine lines of your lips a little, so you could prep your lips with lip balm before to avoid this. The applicator feels nice on the lips, but it’s quite chunky, and I feel like a doe-foot applicator would have been better for precision. Overall I would definitely recommend this for summer; even the packaging gives me holiday feels.
