The Top 10 Palettes Of The Summer – Which One Would You Choose?
In case you didn’t know, I’m obsessed with makeup – seriously, when I travel I bring more makeup than clothes! I’ve seen so many stunning eyeshadow palettes launch on Insta over the last six months, and because I’ve tried nearly all of them – I’m not kidding – I just had to give you guys a run-down of my absolute favs.
These eyeshadow palettes are perfect for summer, and each one has their own unique concept, so no matter what you style, you’re sure to fall in love with one of these. So, from Fenty and Too Faced, to blogger palettes, here’re my top picks for summer.
MOST CREATIVE: Lunar Beauty Life’s A Drag, $45
The palette: 14 shades, 2 formulas: matte and shimmer
Why I love it: This palette is so unexpected, and I think what Manny did was really bold, brave, and different. The six shades from Sickening to Beat are your classic basic shades (in the best way), and I love that he included the super white and black shades, because it gives you so much versatility. Manny also added six crazy pigmented colors, that kind of remind me of a primary colors paint chart, which means you can combine them to create your own shades – it’s like an artists’ palette. The shimmering formulas (Beat and Legendary) are insanely pigmented and popping; they’re perfect for adding to the inner corner of your eye and on the lid – I can’t see what he comes out with next.

MOST PLAYFUL: MOST VERSATILE: Natasha Denona Tropic Palette, $129
The palette: 15 shades, 3 formulas: mattes, metallics, one duochrome
Why I love it: The Quality of Natasha Denona’s products are always on point, and so are her color schemes. The two top rows of this palette have really beautiful shades that will make an amazing look for every day, but then there are some completely wild colors that mean you can play around and have fun. I love the shimmering shade, Mini Frost, and Laguna is the most incredible blue shade – Vintage Taupe is also perfect for the crease.

MOST DREAMY: Tarte Be A Mermaid And Make Waves Eyeshadow Palette, $42
The palette: 14 shades, 2 formulas: matte and shimmer
Why I love it: This is just such a CUTE palette! I love the pink shades, and this is legit the perfect palette to create really sexy daytime looks if you’re off on summer vacay. The packaging is a little chunky but it’s so playful and fun that I don’t mind. The size of each pan is quite small, but this is a limited edition palette and it’s very unique, so if you want to grab it, make sure you get it before it’s gone.

MOST TRAVEL-FRIENDLY: Zoeva Mini palettes – Caramel Malange Voyager, Cocoa Blend Voyager, Matte Voyager, $15.50 each
The palettes: 6 shades each, 2 formulas: matte and shimmer
Why I love it: I’ve always loved Zoeva, and I think her formulas are super easy to use and great quality – the mattes are pigmented and smooth, and the shimmers are very soft and pick-up nicely with a brush. These mini palettes are ideal for summer; they’re the perfect size to throw in your bag so you can top up on-the-go. The shade selections for all three palettes are really well chosen and work perfectly together: my fav palettes are the Caramel Malange (above left) and Matte Voyager (above center).

BEST VALUE: Lime Crime Venus XL, $56
The palette: 18 Shades, 4 finishes: matte, matte sparkle, shimmer, and glow
Why I love it: I love the shades, it’s just such a pretty pink palette. I think the matte shimmer formula is really interesting and unique, and the shimmers are pretty but not overwhelming. My fav shades are definitely Burnt Gold, Flora, Inspire and Eden. Although these formulas are good, they’re not my fav, but it’s incredibly good value (the pans are huge) and the shade collection and packaging are divine.

INFLUENCER MUST-HAVE: Laura Lee Nudie Patootie, $45
The palette: 14 shades, 3 formulas: 8 mattes, 4 shimmers, 2 foils
Why I love it: There’s nothing I love more than seeing an influencer release a new product and for it to be such a huge success, which is why I had to include Laura Lee’s Nudie Patootie palette. Although I’m not crazy about the shades, I love the variety of formulas – the mattes are nicely pigmented and the shimmers have a really pretty finish. Plus, they’re easily blendable so you can build multiple textures to create your own unique look.

MUST-HAVE: Too Faced White Peach Palette, $45
The palette: 12 shades, 3 formulas: mattes, shimmers, and glitters
Why I love it: Not only does this smell delicious (just like peaches and cream), but the colors and formulas are excellent quality. The mattes feel SO buttery, and although there’s a little kickback, they’re also super pigmented and blend beautifully on the eye. The Glistening Peach shimmer shade works best with a little setting spray for pick-up, and it looks amazing on the lid. Peach Ice and Peach Passion are really glittery and add a little extra fun to the palette, so you can create some sexy, bold looks as well.

MOST LUXURIOUS: Kat Von D 10-Year Anniversary Palette, $52
The palette: 16 shades, 3 finishes: mattes, shimmers, and iridescent
Why I love it: This has just the right amount of colors to create so many different looks: it has the staple light browns and red-orangey shades, plus some really versatile deep colors. The shimmers are SO pretty and the iridescent shades make pretty toppers for the matte shades. I also think the packaging is so luxurious, it has a really big mirror with a metal case, and the front of the palette is Kat’s own artwork – everything about it feels limited edition and sexy. It’s so gorgeous!

CREAMIEST FORMULA: Huda Beauty Rose Gold REMASTERED Palette, $65
The palette: 18 shades, 3 textures: matte, shimmer, melted metal
Why I love it: I mean obviously I have a lot of love for this palette, and you can create so many different looks with it! The formula of the mattes is so intensely creamy and intensely pigmented – there is a little kickback, but they blend like a dream. The shimmers are my fav, they’re so rich and really pop – I think they work best with a little setting spray, which helps lay down an intense layer of metallic shimmer.

BEST CELEB PALETTE: Fenty Beauty Moroccan Spice Palette, $59
The palette: 16 shades, 3 formulas: mattes, shimmers, iridescent
Why I love it: There are so many new celeb makeup lines popping up, but Rihanna is killing it with Fenty Beauty. You can tell she puts a lot of effort and thought into her products and doesn’t compromise on quality. This palette is very pretty and the formulas are great too: The mattes are intense and very long-wearing, while the shimmers are very rich and quite glittery, which I’m not a fan of for daytime, but stunning for evening!
