5-New-Beauty-Trends-Collage

With spring just around the corner, we’re constantly searching for new trends to keep our look fresh as we welcome the new season. TBH, after the year we’ve had, we’re looking for anything to brighten up our day and make us feel good. From the wellness trend that’ll help relieve anxiety and stress to the wavy nail trend all the celebs are loving RN, these five beauty and wellness trends are going to be everywhere!

1. High Gloss Hair

High gloss hair is all over social media ATM, and TBH we’re low-key obsessed. The celeb-loved hair trend is exactly what you’d expect – super glossy, almost-glass-like locks. However, unlike the glass hair trend on super straight hair we saw a few years ago, it’s suitable for all hair types and textures. In fact, it works beautifully with curls and protective styles too, you just have to use ultra-restorative, high gloss hair products.

Luckily for you, we got in touch with our go-to celeb hairstylist and high gloss hair expert: Dom Seeley. Dom confirmed that this is a major 2021 trend as our focus on hair health runs deeper than ever. In fact, he believes it’s one of the most timeless hair trends, “Who doesn’t want glossy, healthy hair, all year round?” #facts.

To achieve glossy locks, Dom uses a five-step routine using Color Wow products (find out all the deets here). However, Dom does say that if he were limited to just one product, he would use the Color Wow Extra MIST-ical Shine Spray, $20. He says, “I love this product as it’s super lightweight, it’s instant, non-greasy, and has an incredibly realistic shine. It also contains heat protectant and melts into hair when used with flat or curling irons.”

2. Wavy Nails

Wavy nails seem to be everyone’s fave nail trend ATM, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. The creative trend has actually garnered a strong celebrity following, from Kendall and Kylie Jenner to Saweetie and Dua Lipa.

If you haven’t seen the trend on Instagram, it’s a form of nail art created with freehand wave designs, which can vary from large curvy patterns to intricate swirls. It’s a great trend to experiment with as you can totally switch up the mood depending on your vibe. Choose neutral, delicate swirls and mix and match color, pattern, and texture, or keep it minimal.

3. Nostalgic Beauty

From 70s glam to the swinging 60s, everybody is throwing it back and honoring previous decades with their beauty looks. However, this hasn’t happened by chance, according to Dr. Rex Jung, a neuropsychologist at the University of New Mexico, “We now know that the experience of nostalgia … represents an adaptive response to stressful events. When the world challenges us with loss, disappointment, and anxiety – all heightened by a global pandemic – the draw of nostalgia is particularly keen.” Enter iconic makeup looks inspired by beauty trends gone by.

Right now, we’re willing to try any beauty look – the more glamorous the better – just as long as it helps us escape our sweatpants and topknot situation. Case in point: this stunning 60s look on Addison Rae! Everything from the Twiggy lashes to the headband is utter perfection. If you’re not into the 60s, why not try 70s glam with a big blowout or shaggy haircut. Failing that, 90s supermodel makeup will never go out of style.

4. Skinimalism

At its core, skinimalism a beautiful hybrid between makeup and skincare. With a greater focus on skincare, makeup will be become more minimal to show the beauty of real skin, which means freckles, pores, and texture.

It’s set to be one of 2021’s biggest trends, predicted by Pinterest in their annual trend report after they saw a surge in searches on “how to get glowing skin” and “natural everyday makeup,” which increased by 180% in the last year. Another popular search term? “Face yoga,” which increased four times the amount than the previous year. All of this suggests that a minimal, simplified makeup routine is here to stay, while skincare will continue to take over.

Get ready for lightweight formulas, tinted moisturizers, cream highlighters, and tactical concealer application. As for your skincare routine, we’ll see a rise of antioxidant-supercharged serumsglow-getting ingredients, and hydrating, skin-plumping moisturizers. 5. Cold Showers

Countless celebs and wellness influencers have been shouting about the benefits of ice-cold showers recently. Cryotherapy has actually been trending for the past few years, in particular, cryo facials, which is a cryotherapy treatment where very cold air is used to cool skin on your face, scalp, and neck. An ice-cold shower is essentially a more achievable, daily fix of cryotherapy, and the benefits are major… From reducing stress levels and anxiety to increasing alertness, and even a strengthened immune system. It can also help reduce frizzy locks, tighten pores, boost healthy blood flow and relieve sore muscles. If the idea of an ice-cold shower makes you squirm, try to end your shower with a 30-second blast of cold water and increase it over time.
