9 Weird AF Celebrity Beauty Hacks That Actually Work
We love it when celebs tell us the secret behind their Hollywood glow isn’t a $200 miracle product but a weird AF DIY hack. And as we know you guys love money-saving as much as us (more to spend on lipsticks and eyeshadows!), we had to share them with you. They might sound a little weird, but trust us, these tricks are super easy, and you probably already have everything you need at home already. Tempted? Try these and you’ll be ready for the red carpet for less than $10…
Bella Hadid’s Flawless Makeup
When we met up with Bella Hadid, she told us about a hack she picked up while in Japan for flawless foundation. Of course, we were SO here for that, even if it did mean dunking our face in water! It sounds crazy, but it’s actually crazy how well this works. The Korean beauty hack, called Jamsu, involves applying your makeup and then baking your entire face with translucent powder before dunking it in cold water for 10 seconds. If you don’t believe us, check out how insanely good the results are here.
Cindy Crawford’s Glow
Cindy Crawford has taken a beauty tip from Cleopatra and gives herself regular milk facials by spritzing a mix of mineral water and milk all over her face. We tried it, and we admit, it was messy, so we prefer our nutmeg and milk miracle mask. All you do is mix one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon of nutmeg, and one tablespoon of milk in a bowl. Then we apply it to our face with a brush, working outwards, allowing the mask to sit on our face for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. The lactic acid in the milk will gently exfoliate while instantly brightening your skin.
Nicole Kidman’s Fierce Hair Color
Nicole Kidman has claimed that her stunning red mane is a result of washing her hair with cranberry juice. This super cheap hack doesn’t only just work for redheads but will bring out any red tones in brunettes and strawberry blondes. Just mix a cup of organic cranberry juice with a ¼ cup of water and use it as the final rinse after you’ve washed your hair.
Kim Kardashian’s Wrinkle-Free Undereyes
We were surprised to hear that the secret to Kim Kardashian’s bright undereye isn’t just her new concealer kits, but is a $6 hemorrhoid cream; Preparation H. Kim’s makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic said he uses it to tighten her undereye and soften the appearance of wrinkles. It really does work as it restricts the blood vessels, soothing redness and it also contains an anti-inflammatory ingredient that calms any puffiness. Don’t use it every day though, as it can dry out your skin: we like to add it to our moisturizer to make it less potent and smell better.
Salma Hayek and Blake Lively’s Luscious Locks
Salma Hayek and Blake Lively have revealed that instead of using their favorite condiment on their french fries, they use it as a hair mask! Salma apparently uses mayonnaise, which contains hair-healthy ingredients like egg, lemon juice, and vinegar, to boost her shine and lock in moisture. Blake, who was taught the mayonnaise hair hack by her mother, also uses Tomato Ketchup as a toner to color correct her blonde locks if they ever have an ashy or green tint. Just apply the Mayonnaise or Tomato Ketchup directly onto the hair from root to tip and shampoo it off 15 minutes later. Gross, but kinda genius!
Miranda Kerr’s Long Lashes
Miranda Kerr doesn’t bother spending her money on eyelash curlers, she uses a metal spoon instead! Just place the spoon on your lid, cupping the natural curved shape of your eyelid and then apply your mascara. Not only does it make sure you never get any mascara on your lid, it’s the perfect solution for when you’re traveling and you’ve left your curlers at home.
Margot Robbie’s Perfect Pout
Marc Piasecki Margot Robbie told ELLE magazine she never uses lip balm as she believes they contain additives that dry out your lips, therefore forcing you to continually purchase more and more lip balm in order to “soothe” them. She actually has a point, as some lip balms contain dehydrating ingredients phenol and menthol, so check the ingredient list to make sure you avoid these. Instead, she uses Bepanthen (which is used to repair nipples of breastfeeding mothers) for a hit of hydration that’ll actually heal.
Kate Hudson’s Stunning Complexion
Ever tried giving yourself a facial with icy water for the ultimate glow? Kate Hudson has! It sounds intense, but it instantly revives your skin, calms swelling, and tightens your pores. Just place some ice in a bowl with water, then dunk your face in for 30 seconds. It sounds painful but it’s actually so refreshing! Find out how it works, here.
Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Glossy Mane
We’ve all heard that champagne showers do great things for our hair (if you haven’t, read this), but pouring beer onto our locks is definitely something new. As demonstrated by Catherine Zeta-Jones (remember that Mask Of Zorro scene?), it does work. Once the beer dries, the residue of hops and barley gives your hair more body and volume. All you do is cover your hair from root to tip in beer and wash it off with shampoo 20 minutes later.
We told you they were a little out of the box but we promise it’ll be worth it!
