Must Read: Why Removing My Lip Filler Was The Best Thing I Ever Did
Unlike a lot of people, I love talking about my fillers. I always want you guys to learn and benefit from my experiences – it’s the reason I started blogging in the first place. So, when it comes to talking about fillers, I’m always fully transparent! So, I wanted to tell you guys exactly why I decided to get them dissolved.
Before I get into the details, I just want to stress that with any cosmetic procedure, it’s a big decision (even when you’re having something reversed) and so it should be a decision that you come to on your own, or with the help from your doctor. Also, I just want to say I’m not bashing fillers; don’t get me wrong, I love them, but in moderation – seriously, fillers are addictive!
Why I decided to remove my lip fillers…
So I started getting a lot of comments on my YouTube channel, and people were saying some pretty mean things about my lips. While I normally try to ignore any nasty, negative comments, it did make me stop and think, ‘wait, are my lips too big?’ Normally, I would just ignore the comments, but this time it did make me think about it. So, after my doctor told me that my lip fillers made me look old, and plastic, and fake (true story), I knew it was time for a change. Now that I’ve removed my lip fillers, I feel like I have a softer, more natural look.
I can honestly say now, I’m so happy I’ve done it! Here’s my experience:
The truth about fillers…
My main issue with filler, and what a lot of doctors don’t tell you is, it moves. Especially, if you’re using Juvéderm, which the doctor had used previously. So after a couple of months, the filler started to move around and actually moved upwards, above my Cupid’s bow. My upper lip began to look really weird and the contour became too pronounced.
Another thing you need to be really careful with is how much filler you use and where it’s being injected. If you limit the dosage to a couple drops here and there, it can look really natural. I usually use tiny micro drops, but the last time I had filler I wasn’t paying enough attention, and the doctor started injecting it everywhere and my top lip looked way too full. The good thing is, hyaluronic acid based fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase.

Since I’ve had it dissolved, my lips look SO much more natural and now, when I overline my lips, which is what I like to do, they look voluptuous without looking overfilled. Check out this post for my top tips on overlining your lips.
Now, I’m going to be real with you guys, having your filler dissolved is painful AF. I have a super high pain threshold, even during childbirth I was calm. But having my filler dissolved? My eyes started tearing profusely and I had this weird pain in my nose for a week. But was it worth it? 100%
In this picture, I have had some of my filler dissolved but I’ve since had another appointment and my doctor dissolved them further. They still look full, but remember, I overline my lips!
My experience with filler…
Over the years, I’ve learned a lot! Since my first appointment, I’ve been getting my lips refilled once a year. I’ve had them done by some of the most famous doctors in the world and there are SO many things I wish I had known before I booked that first appointment. Firstly, the type of filler you use is super important, the most common are Juvederm and Restylane, which are both hyaluronic based fillers, and these are the ones you can have removed! Also, remember less is more – you want a naturally plump lip, not ‘duck’ lips! If you’re thinking about getting filler, make sure you read this post on all the things I wish someone had shared with me – pre-appointment! Finally, be careful; fillers are super addictive and you can end up doing too much.
