5 Beauty Hacks To Help You Fake 8 Hours Of Sleep

We’ve all had those nights when we’ve partied like Cardi and we knew we really shouldn’t have (at least it felt like it at the time). And though that might be fine if you’re chilling over the weekend, if you’ve got an event, or even work the next day, you know you’re gonna have to look fresh for the morning. So, to make sure you’re looking your usual flawless self no matter how many hours sleep you’ve had, here’re five hacks to help you fake eight hours.

1. Do an Ice Facial!

This is pretty magical, and it’s actually the Victoria’s Secret Angel’s trick for looking amazing before a show. It might sound kinda terrifying, but it involves splashing your face with icy water: The ice facial tightens pores, gives an instant glow, and most importantly, reduces any puffiness. All you have to do is fill a bowl with some ice and cover the ice in water, then splash your face with the water repeatedly for 30 seconds. Trust us; this is SO worth it. Of course, if you’re not that brave or short on time, cold spoons placed under the eye for a few minutes are a life-saver – put them in the fridge overnight or leave them in the freezer for 20 minutes.

2. Hit up the Caffeine

We’re not talking about coffee (but a shot will help your head for sure), instead, use caffeine topically to reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. We’re obsessed with The Ordinary’s Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG, $11. As soon as you’ve washed your face, dab this miracle worker under your eyes and just watch as your bags disappear. You can also use chamomile tea bags, which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. If you can, brew two tea bags and store them in a Ziploc bag, and let them chill in the fridge overnight. In the morning, let them sit on your eyes for 10 minutes – et voila, dramatically reduced puffy eyes!

3. Massage Your Face

All those excess toxins from alcohol, salty foods, and late nights play havoc on your body and can give you a bloated look. To tighten and tone your skin, take five minutes to drain the excess fluid with a five-minute lymphatic drainage massage – don’t worry, it’s super easy! It involves using gentle sweeping motions towards the edges of your face to drain your lymph system.

4. Hydrate

Drink plenty of water, because when you’re dehydrated your fine lines and wrinkles are more prominent. You also need to hydrate your skin topically too. In Korea, they have a hack called the ‘7-skin’ method, which basically means toning seven times; the result is insanely glowy, glass-like skin. All you need to do is saturate a cotton pad with a hydrating toner and wipe it across your face, gently patting the product into your skin after. Repeat this at least three times. Korean toners are typically hydrating, not astringent, so this will only work with non-alcoholic toners. 5. Fake it With Makeup

Next, use a highlighter to your advantage and pop a little on the inner corners of your eyes to brighten them. You can also use a pale, nude eyeliner on the waterline of your lower lashes to open up the eyes. Finally, add a healthy flush of color with a pink blush; a rosy tint to your cheeks will give an instant glow to your complexion. And don’t forget mascara – mascara makes everything better!
