Back in January, celebrity hairstylist, Sabrina Porsche, told us, “Butterfly locs are the new big thing in the braid world!” And she was 100% right. All of our fave It girls are experimenting with the braid style, from Ciara to Adut Akech.

Sabrina explains, “These locs are similar to faux locs, but the difference is, instead of using straight braiding hair to wrap around the braid, you would use curly braiding hair and wrap them in a looser form to give the loc a more textured look!” #Obsessed.

2. Orange and Copper Hues

Think you can’t pull off copper and orange hues? Think again. “Copper ginger is one of the most attention-grabbing colors for spring,” says celebrity colorist and MATRIX brand ambassador, George Papanikolas. Plus, you can find a shade that works for your skin tone, texture, and cut, whether you opt for a burnt copper or vibrant tangy orange.

To keep this delicate shade from fading, Papanikolas recommends using an acid-based shampoo, like MATRIX Total Results Keep Me Vivid Shampoo, $17. “This will seal the cuticle when you shampoo, preserving the delicate copper molecules and reducing fading.”

3. Sexy, Wispy Bangs

Bangs have come back in a major way over the past year. We’ve seen micro fringes, curtain bangs, and now we’re seeing a softer, sexier version. Introducing long, wispy bangs showcased on bombshells like Rihanna and Dua Lipa.

The best thing about this fringe style is it’s flattering on most face shapes as you can tweak it slightly for varying shapes. For example, if you have a square-shaped face, try A-shape wispy bangs, in comparison to a diamond face, which suits a long, layered fringe as this can help soften and balance your features. 4. Cropped Coils

If you’ve embraced your natural curls this year, then you may want to try this perfect cropped crown. Take notes from celebs like Adwoa Aboah, Viola Davis, and Willow Smith who are showcasing their natural texture with a perfectly rounded fro.

Remember, patience is key. When styling, pluck and press continually, and don’t forget to add a spritz of your fave moisture spray to shape your curls into the desired shape.

After a year of working from home, we’ve moved away from heat styling to give our hair a much-needed break. And TBH, we’ve fallen back in love with our natural texture with the help of our favorite products and air-drying hacks.
