glow recipe Pineapple-C Bright Serum

If there’s one brand we know we can rely on to come through for our skin, it’s Glow Recipe. Not only do the founders Christine Chang and Sarah Lee instinctively know and understand what our skin needs to bring its best glow game, but they also know how to deliver it. They saved our oily skin last summer with their divine juicy watermelon sleeping mask and moisturizer, and soothed our parched skin with a delicious Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask for winter – these SHE-E-Os have our backs!

Now, they’re coming to our rescue again with a potent Pineapple-C Bright Serum that delivers intense smoothing, brightening, and hydrating properties. The brand claims this is your key to getting translucent, smooth skin so reflective that it looks like glass. And guys, they’re not messing with you either. We got an early delivery of this glowy goodness, and we can vouch for its efficacy!

What’s in it: Three types of vitamin C, including 22% pure pineapple juice; a natural source of vit C, AHAs and bromelain enzymes. It’s also packed with skin-plumping hyaluronic acid and soothing chamomile.

What it does: Vitamin C is every derm’s fave skincare ingredient for treating hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and acne scarring, and this powerful serum has a potent mix of vitamin C to brighten and even skin tone. Vit C is also a powerful antioxidant that protects your skin against harmful, skin-aging free radicals and UV light; so combine this with a good SPF, and you can trust your skin to be well protected through the day. It also contains antioxidant-rich vitamin E to nourish and hydrate the skin and support the skin barrier.

To top it off, natural AHAs from pineapple, and lactic acid work with bromelain enzymes to gently exfoliate dead skin cells and resurface the complexion, while aloe gel soothes inflammation.

The formula: Packed inside the most insanely cute bottle we’ve ever seen – we never knew how stunning a pineapple-shaped bottle could be – is the smoothest, silkiest serum. The lightweight serum spreads really easily and sinks into the skin quickly, and unlike many other vitamin C formulas, it doesn’t leave the skin feeling sticky or tacky, just incredibly smooth and soft. It smells like pineapples, and for us, that’s a nice thing.

The results: Immediately after applying, our skin looks glowy, not wet – it’s crazy how this actually makes your skin look like glass with just one application. But we’re not here for the instant gratification – although we’re not complaining – we’re here to see if this really does brighten and smooth long-term.

Fortunately (or unfortunately; however you want to look at it), we had a fresh batch of post-inflammatory pigmentation – aka red marks left behind after a pimple – to test this on. And, we can legit say that after using this night and day for 10 days, we saw the speediest recovery of our skin (we can’t wait to see what a month will do!). While the marks are still there (and we’re also using other brightening ingredients in our regime, like AHAs), this has definitely helped speed up the fading process of our red, post-acne marks, even compared to when we’ve used other vit C serums – trust us; we have a lot!

The verdict: This is one of those products that actually does everything it claims to. Our skin felt consistently hydrated, immediately smooth to the touch, and generally comfortable. We noticed our skin felt especially smooth the next morning, and over time we saw an improvement in tone and texture. We’ll definitely be repurchasing once this cute little bottle of goodness runs out.
