Celeb Facialists SWEAR By This Under-The-Radar Oil

Ingredient Spotlight

Pomegranat-Ingredient-Spotlight

Argan, olive, and coconut oil will forever have our respect, but sometimes under-the-radar ingredients get overshadowed by the giants out there. Case in point: pomegranate oil. This vibrantly red, antioxidant-rich oil seriously nourishes and protects skin, and it just so happens to be a favorite among celebrity estheticians and facialists.

“Pomegranate is filled with antioxidants and possesses a high concentration of vitamin C, which has natural antimicrobial properties,” notes Elina Fedotova, cosmetic chemist, and celebrity esthetician. “It’s also a natural source of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), which gently exfoliate and brighten your skin by lightening scars and hyperpigmentation.”

Pomegranate oil also contains ellagic acid, an antioxidant that can help improve your skin’s resilience against environmental factors, including sun damage and air pollution. Celebrity facialist Joanna Vargas, is a fan of pomegranate oil, too. “Anyone who is concerned with guarding against sun damage or environmental damage would benefit from using pomegranate oil,” she tells us. “It can be used night or day, but I think it in the morning is beneficial. That way, you can get that antioxidant protection during the course of the day.”
