12 Celeb Skincare Secrets You Need To Know

If there’s one source of skincare wisdom we love to indulge in, it’s celebrity skincare tips. Not only do celebrities seem to age x10 slower than the average guy or gal, ahem J.Lo, Cindy, Beyoncé, George Clooney! But since they have access to the world’s best derms, you know it’s (usually) coming from a place of wisdom. Here are 12 celebrity skincare tips you should actually try out…

The Oscar winner told Redbook that to combat her dry skin, she uses avocado oil to remove her makeup, which simultaneously hydrates her skin and helps her get that glow. And she’s totally right, avocado is full of beauty-boosting vitamins and antioxidants that will replenish the skin.

Even though Kendall has access to some of the world’s top makeup artists and skincare specialists, she also learned a lot from her momager Kris Jenner. In a recent interview with InStyle, Kendall said that one of the biggest rules she learned was simple, “never touch your face.” On average, we touch our face more than three times an hour and by doing so, we’re just relocating dirt and oil from our hands to our face. The outcome? Breakouts. She also credits laser genesis for soothing her acne-prone skin. The non-invasive laser treatment addresses fine lines, large pores, uneven skin tone, and of course, acne and acne scars. For more celeb-approved acne treatments, read this.

3. Cindy Crawford’s DIY Spray

Cindy Crawford clearly took notes from Cleopatra and treats herself to regular milk facials. The recipe is simple: she mixes equal parts of mineral water and milk, decants the mixture into a spray bottle, and spritzes her face post-cleanse. We tried it, and we admit, it was messy, so either use it on a cotton pad like you would a toner or try our nutmeg and milk miracle mask. Cindy also believes in spending on skincare above all else: “You can get a less expensive mascara, you can get a less expensive lip gloss or nail polish, but anything that’s actually on your skin is worth investing in,” she says.

Margot Robbie swears by one of our favorite skincare devices for her impeccably toned skin; the Ziip Beauty Device. It not only carves out cheekbones (not literally, but it looks that way), but the Ziip can also help to treat blemish-prone skin and diminish dark circles and fine lines. You’d expect the most famous woman in the world to bathe in pure gold but Kim K, in fact, uses a $6 hemorrhoid cream, namely Preparation H, to keep her undereye wrinkle-free. Kim’s makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic said he uses it to tighten her undereye and soften the appearance of wrinkles. It really does work as it restricts the blood vessels thereby reducing redness, and it also contains an anti-inflammatory ingredient that’ll get rid of any puffiness. Don’t use it every day though, as it can dry out your skin: try adding it to your moisturizer to make it less potent.

6. Bella Thorne’s Skin-Saving Hack

Bella Thorne recently revealed that one change she made to her acne-prone skin is SO simple: she stopped (over) washing her face. Instead of washing her face twice a day, she began only washing it at night and noticed an immediate improvement. While washing twice a day works fine for many people, over-washing your face can be seriously detrimental, as Bella experienced. By overwashing your face, you’ll disrupt the moisture barrier, which allows bacteria to penetrate more easily. Read our guide to cleansing here.

She told Elle “I use an ingredient called Tepezcohuite that’s used in Mexico for burn victims because it completely regenerates the skin … This is why I have no Botox, no peels, no fillings. I’m 48. I will be 49 this year and I only use my creams.”

Another celeb favorite for beautiful skin is olive oil. So relocate it from your kitchen to your bathroom as it’s actually amazing for your skin. Firstly, it’s super hydrating, plus it’s packed full of good-for-skin omegas and fatty acids that nourish the skin. Julia likes to simply use olive oil as hand oil, but Cate Blanchett gets a little more creative and makes a homemade body scrub using olive oil, grapefruit juice, and sea salt.
