This Eyeshadow Trend Is Making A Comeback & We're Obsessed

A few years ago, we reported an eyeshadow trend loved and adored by celebs, including makeup mogul Kylie Jenner and supermodel Gigi Hadid. The trend? Adding a vibrant pop of color to the inner corner of your eye. It’s cute, simple, and hella-versatile.

Now, the trend is making a comeback, but as you’d expect, it’s evolved, and TBH, we’re just as obsessed the second time around. Previously, the pop of color was used to accent a bare lid. Now, it’s being used to add an extra summin’ summin’ to a certified eyeshadow or liner look. Case in point: the incredible eyeshadow look seen on Zendaya at the Dune Premiere. Instead of simply focusing on the outer wing, MUA Raoul Alejandre added a dazzling purple shimmer elongating the eye and creating an iconic look.

The lesson to learn here? Stop ignoring the inner eye. Whether you’re opting for a smokey eye or graphic liner look, play with the inner corner to elevate your makeup game. Not only does it look fire, but as the area is often caught under the natural shadow of your brow bone, it opens up and accentuates the eye, thereby making your eyes look bigger and more dynamic.

One of our favorite things about this trend is it’s literally so versatile. We’re not even kidding when we say you can incorporate it into any eye look. We love mixing it with other makeup trends, from adding a pearl to the inner corner #pearlcore or playing with trending colors.

Top tip: To ensure the color or shimmer pops and remains vibrant from night to day, first apply a white cream eyeshadow to the inner tear duct to prime the area. We like to use the matte white shade from our Matte Basics Melted Shadows, $25. Next, pack the eyeshadow color or shimmer onto the inner eye duct using a small dense brush.

This look is serving major Euphoria vibes, and, as you’d expect, we’re swooning over it. We love how MUA Ash K Holm added drama to the outer and inner corners, and it elongates, lifts, and snatches the eye for a fierce but fun final look.

If you STAN a graphic look, you don’t need to abandon your liquid liner to experiment with this trend. Take notes from legendary MUA Nikki Wolff and opt for a shimmer inner eye moment to complement a feline wing.

We realize we may sound like a broken record, BUT an inner eye accent is THE most effortless way to double down on two trends in one look, as demonstrated here with this blush draping and inner eye accent moment. One word: obsessed.
